Bannerlord Cheats and Console Commands

Bannerlord has its cheats built in, behind one switch called cheat mode. Turn it on and you get a console for gold, influence and skill experience, plus a set of Ctrl hotkeys that knock out armies and heal your horse. Turn it on and you also lose Steam achievements for that campaign.

Takeaways Three ways to cheat in Bannerlord, and what each one reaches

  1. One lump per line Console Gold, influence, renown, skill XP, troops. Alt and the backtick, after config.cheat_mode 1.
  2. Battle and screens Cheat hotkeys Ctrl+Alt+F4 knocks out the enemy army, Ctrl+H heals you, Ctrl and a click moves your party on the map.
  3. 23 cheats, 5 free Trainer Infinite influence, renown and morale, godmode, no food consumption. Values held while you play.

Cheat mode is one switch, and you can flip it two ways

Everything in this guide sits behind a single setting called cheat mode. It is off by default, and nothing about it is a mod: TaleWorlds ships it with the game. Everything below applies to the PC build 1.4.8, the patch of August 2026 according to this patch report.

The file. Close the game and open Documents\Mount and Blade II Bannerlord\Configs\engine_config.txt. Find the line cheat_mode = 0, change it to cheat_mode = 1, save. Use a plain text editor and change nothing else. The setting now holds for every launch.

The console. In game, press Alt and the backtick, the key left of 1. A command line opens. Type:

config.cheat_mode 1

The game answers that the engine config changed, and cheat mode is on without a restart. config.cheat_mode 0 turns it off the same way. Either route writes the same setting, so the console is simply the version without the file search.

What it costs: with cheat mode on, Bannerlord shows a message that achievements are disabled, and a Steam discussion from 2023 reports it appearing in saved games and new campaigns alike. If achievements matter to you, keep one campaign that has never seen cheat mode.

One side effect people mistake for a bug: with cheat mode on, the left side of the inventory and party screens fills with items and troops you can take. If they are still there after you typed config.cheat_mode 0, cheat mode is still on.

The console commands that move a campaign

The campaign commands start with campaign. and only run with cheat mode on. Names and examples below follow the console page of the Bannerlord modding documentation.

CommandWhat it does
campaign.add_gold_to_hero 100000Gold to your main character
campaign.add_influence 500Influence for kingdom votes and policies
campaign.add_renown_to_clan 500Renown, which drives clan tier
campaign.add_focus_points_to_hero 5Focus points to spend
campaign.add_attribute_points_to_hero 2Attribute points to spend
campaign.add_troops aserai_tribesman | 200Troops by their internal name
campaign.add_prisoner vlandian_sharpshooter | 10Prisoners for your party
campaign.declare_war faction1 faction2War between two factions
campaign.declare_peace faction1 faction2Peace between them
campaign.give_settlement_to_player TownA town or castle, by name
campaign.set_campaign_speed_multiplier 15Faster campaign clock

Skill experience has its own command and its own trap. The form that works, according to a long Steam thread on the syntax, is the skill name in one word with capitals, then the amount:

campaign.add_skill_xp_to_hero OneHanded 100000

onehanded or One Handed fail. And a large number does not always help. Every skill has a learning limit set by your attribute and focus points, and as a skill nears it the experience it gains falls away. That is why add_focus_points_to_hero is often the better first command: it raises the limit the XP then fills.

Smithing parts have a command too, campaign.unlock_all_crafting_pieces. It has its own guide on unlocking every smithing part, with the smelting route for players who keep achievements.

The Ctrl hotkeys, for battles and screens

Cheat mode also wakes up a set of keyboard shortcuts. No console needed, they work where you are standing. Hotkey lists from 2020 and 2022 agree on these:

KeysWhereWhat it does
Ctrl + left clickWorld mapMoves your party to the clicked spot
Ctrl+F4BattleKnocks out one enemy
Ctrl+Alt+F4BattleKnocks out the whole enemy side
Ctrl+HBattleHeals you to full
Ctrl+Shift+HBattleHeals your horse
Ctrl+F3BattleKnocks out your own character
Ctrl+XClan screenAdds 1,000 influence

Ctrl+Alt+F4 contains Alt+F4, the Windows shortcut that closes a program, so press Ctrl first and hold it. Both lists also name screen hotkeys such as Ctrl+A for attributes on the character screen; those are older reports, so test one on a spare save before you rely on it.

Where the built-in cheats stop

Every console line is a lump. A hundred thousand gold arrives once, and a party of two hundred eats through it. Influence spent on one vote is gone for the next. Nothing in the console holds a value, and nothing acts every day.

The hotkeys have the opposite limit: they are immediate and small. They win a battle, they do not change the campaign around it.

What the trainer holds instead

The Bannerlord trainer lists 23 cheats, five of them free: plus 1,000 gold, zero gold, zero renown, add focus points and zero focus points. The free focus points are worth noting given the learning limit above.

Where the console adds once, the trainer holds. Infinite influence, infinite renown and infinite morale stay at their value while you play. No food consumption means a large party does not starve on a long siege. Gold comes in three steps, 1,000, 10,000 and 500,000, and food can be set to an exact amount.

The battle side replaces the hotkeys with switches that stay on: godmode for you, your horse and your troops, one-hit kills, infinite arrows and no melee knockback. The trainer changes values in memory and needs no console open. Single-player campaigns only.

Which route fits which campaign

The console for a fix: a war you want to end, a stalled clan tier, gold for one fief. It is built in and costs only the achievement flag.

The hotkeys for a single battle that went wrong, a horse at one hit point, a party stuck behind a river.

The trainer when the problem repeats every week of the campaign: influence, food, morale. That is where a one-off lump runs out and a held value does not.
