Why cheats make sense in Phasmophobia
A hunt starts and the door you came through is the difference between a finished contract and a lost one. Meanwhile the evidence you need is somewhere in a house lit by a torch the game keeps dim on purpose. The trainer holds doors shut, brightens the light and can scratch wrong evidence off the board, which turns a lottery into a deduction.

Doors decide whether you survive a hunt
Six cheats lock or unlock hinge, slide and cloth doors separately. During a hunt the ghost opens doors and you want them closed, which is a mechanic the game deliberately makes unreliable. -
The dark is the difficulty
Default flashlight, lantern and strong flashlight are three switches. Phasmophobia is tuned around limited visibility, and the torch you start with is part of that tuning. -
